Cisgendered people take note

I'm a fan of this blog now, read it quite regularly. Now it has a good well written response to people who don't like the word Cisgender.

so i read that post. then i read the post that it was replying to, and i commented there saying:

i found your post very interesting. i came to it after reading this response to it and i agree more with the response. i can see why someone might think to get offended, but i think calling someone like you or me “cissy” is just like calling someone who identifies as heterosexual “hetero.” it’s not an epithet. it’s just a term. as someone who isn’t trans, if someone called me cisgendered, i’d shrug my shoulders and tell them they were right - just as i would if they told me i was female, heterosexual, or tall. it may be a label, but it seems to me to be a very matter-of-fact one rather than one with any sort of demeaning nature behind it.
