Tooth update

Got in to see a dentist my family knows pretty well.

Not having insurance is lame, but severe tooth pain is worse. It wasn't just a toothache; that sounds far too tame. At first the dentist took an x-ray and said it looked like the nerve was newly-dying, which meant it had to go.

Then he opened up the tooth...
Cut for nasty details... )

I know how you feel. After dealing with dental mayhem for the last 5 years... *smiles her $15,000 smile* I definitely sympathize. *snug* glad you could finally get it taken care of.

Dentists have to be closeted sadists, because they inflict pain and one could argue that they derive joy from being paid to cause pain.

...does that mean our teeth troubles turn us into masochists???

Well... he didn't have to pull the nerve?

The nerve was completely dead. He said it didn't really decay, because that would need an outside agent (bacteria, air, etc.). It was more like when I had the filling put on it last year, it was actually on its "newly-dying" stage, so the pain I associated with just a filling being right next to the nerve cap was actually the tooth in its death throes.

He kinda just scooped out the goop that used to be a nerve.

But now it's gone, and I am feeling a lot better! Yay for antibiotics!

glad you got to it in time then since such infections can become blood born and kill. to die of a fucked up tooth has to be on the list of really bad ways to die.

but i am sure you will recover nicely from the tooth pains.
