a contrasting pair

What're the differences between the two?

Also: shiny!

Uh, one is plastic, for hitting people you like, the other steel, for hitting people you do not like.

Also, more than a 10x difference in price I suspect. :-)

Hmm, did he sell you the Munich along with the scabbard, or did you have to order the sword from albion and then send it along?

You can tell what kind of a sword guy I am by the fact that I don't actually seem to own any sharps.

The reason I bought it is because he was selling that particular one with scabbard for a discount (well, a discount off the price of both together).

So I was clicking around on the scabbard pages, looking at all the pages, then got to the choice between hanging your sword from a belt or a thong. The idea of swordsmen wearing swords on thongs is... very fur loincloth barbarian.

Except when I looked at it again, it was a choice of buckle or thong, not belt or thong, so I guess it just means "buckle or tying-strap".

"scent stopper pommel"?

Never figured out who coined that term, but it's been the standard name for as long as I've known anything about the subject. And it's generally pretty obvious what it means once you've seen one or two... like putting a round stopper on the end of your sword, thus easy to manipulate the sword from the pommel end.

Of course, actual perfume bottles have crazy shaped caps these days... you can probably get a bottle of perfume with a disc pommel cap.

Ahhhh ... I was thinking it was some sort of chemically-treated material that literally stopped scent -- so your sword doesn't smell like sweaty hands ;).
