As a Pole, I'm flattered by your depiction but a bit troubled too. The situation during WWII was difficult and complicated for everyone so comparing two nations and portraying one as morally superior to the other is rather unfair. After all, it's not like all Poles behaved nobly and the British didn't help purely out of spite.
I hope this doesn't discourage you, I'm aware that it's very hard not to simplify in such a short piece. Perhaps you could try writing a longer fic?

Actually, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I'm not Polish myself, so I was kinda worried about how it would come across, and I'm glad it wasn't horribly offensive.

That said, this is also Hetalia. I was trying to take Poland-the-country into account, but also Feliks-the-human and what he might think and feel about things personally.

It probably won't morph into a longer fic, the bunny's run its course and I don't have nearly enough knowledge to make it work as a longer plot. But thank you for the thoughts. =)

Ah, no, it was the opposite of offensive - I was afraid that it wasn't critical enough but now that you've mentioned Feliks' human side it certainly does make sense that he would act the way you described. Anyway, I enjoyed your fic a lot!

Aaaah, I agree! The fandom needs more awesome Poland-- I admire the Poles too, even if they lose they're still hanging on... Thanks for this!

This was very powerful. I started crying when England finally saw who it was. I know next to nothing about Polish history but I do know a little bit of what happened during WWII. I like your Poland. He's so fierce and protective of his own. He only cares that they were HIS people. *wibbles away*

This is beautiful. Thank you so much for posting! This may seem a bit strange, but would you mind if I made a podfic of it?

Note to self, switch out of role-play journal before I try to comment on my fic posts.

I'm so glad you liked it! What's a podfic? I've never heard that particular term before.

Ah, a podfic is sort of like an audiobook, a recording of someone (me in this case if that's okay) reading the fic aloud. They're quite neat!

A good link, if you're curious about them is this which is the largest archive of podfic on the net (I think). ^^

Woah, I'm really surprised! It's the first time I'm reading fanfiction about Poland written by someone not-from-Poland XD (well, I know that there are many others written not only by Poles, but anyway - that's my first time)
I'm glad that some people know how was it for real with that "alliances" between Poland, France and England (because in APH they showed, like, it was Polands fault why it didn't work, or something)
However, this is really amazing. kocham cię za to, kobieto XD
I have the last question for you: where are you from? I'm just curious
(and sooorry for my terrible English :/ I hope that at least you understand what I mean)

Your English is very good, I understand perfectly! :)

I am actually from the United States, and my family is Scottish. As far as I know, I'm not Polish at all. I study history a lot, especially WWII. And Poland in Hetalia is one of my favorite characters, so I started to study Polish history too.

I love Hetalia because it can bring so many different people together and help us understand each other. :) I'm glad you liked my fic.

The inspiration came partially from the doujinshi 1939, you can find it on deviantART here. Links to the other pages are in the notes. :)

ah, you are truly awesome! I always wanted to talk with someone like you :) and I always wanted to come to USA. I have there an old aunt, but you know. she's very old. she'll probably die soon :D

Exactly! I think the same! you see what you did, now what I am supposed to write, hm? :( well, I'm sure I won't write anything smart, sooo I should shut up now :)

Thanks for the link, that was great too :'(

and now I see that my comment looks stupid and THAT is really sad (and again I hope that you undwrstand) (because I don't)
