I frequently wake up at night and think that there's something in the room with me. I tend to attack said phantasm before I really wake up. Once I realized I was poking my blanket with a sword because I thought a snake had crawled into the lining. It's like night terrors, only without the terror.

I for some reason have developed an irrational fear of open water. I used to swim all the time in rivers, lakes, and pools. Now for some reason I won't go in water I can't see the bottom of. I also have a fear of drowning in my car. Bad nightmares about that one.

When I came back from Iraq I bought a shotgun and loaded it and kept it in arms reach from me in my apartment 6 months, then I just loaded it when I went to bed for the next 3 months. You would be surprised how long it takes someone to wind down and I only got shot at 2 times over there.
