The Sandia Labyrinth

Aug 15, 2006 17:36

I know those of you who are following Soren's journal already knew this - but for those of you who either don't know Soren has a journal or who don't want to wait 7 months between entries and so aren't on his journal...I thought I'd post this.

Some of you may not know this, but Soren's also an artist. He's primarily a sculptor and his work has ( Read more... )

THANK YOU for the picture of him walking it! I've been wondering for quite a while how big the thing is, and now that I've seen him in it, I know more what the size is. Good jebus, that thing is beautiful. I assume that some of them are photos post-rainstorm so that everything's good and tamped down?

Oh yeah, so very very post-rain. It's been raining here for weeks. We've had some major floods, but Soren arranged his mountainside so carefully that the water runs around the Labyrinth and not through it. Ob-sesssss-ive. You should see it. It's pretty big and the photos just don't do it justice. I just wish everybody could come walk it - mostly because that'd mean you were HERE! *laugh*

Absolutely beautiful. Of course I'm a fan :)

That last photo is gorgeous, it could be a post card. A landscape aligned, large picture would be perfect for a desktop.

Soren is amazing to watch when he is in creation mode. The joy seems to just shine from him.

I just try to do it justice with the photos...and even still I feel like I just barely capture it. *sigh* I'm gonna keep trying though.
Soren really is a wonderful thing to watch when he's in working mode, and I think he's found something that touches his soul with this kind of work. There will be more, I'm thinkin'.
I wish you were here to help us "Christen" it with the right energy. And plus, I just wish you were here in general. ;)

That's beautiful. How does it feel when you walk it?

It's so quiet when you walk it, that's what I noticed. The birds calling to one another, the wind brushing past you, every so often the coyotes yipping to themselves off in the distance, your own footsteps and heartbeat...those are the only sounds you hear.
I don't know all that much about what walking a labyrinth is -supposed- to do for you, but after I walk it around to the center and then unwinding back out to the beginning point, I feel so much more peaceful, grounded and centered. And clean, energy-wise. Like I've re-set some things.
Soren's infused that space with so much energy as that labyrinth was being created, in the rocks he's gathered and placed while in a meditative state, one by one, by hand, over the months - it feels like the earth energy has colluded with him to create an intensely magical/sacred space. The unbelievably beautiful view, the positioning of the Labyrinth itself, the way it fits into the surroundings the way it does...it's just magnificent.
But then again, I'm hugely biased. ;)
