Oooh, look at all that snow. You guys really did get a lot too! I think we all did. Eee! I know what you mean abou the claustrophobic feeling. It is a little weird and exciting all at once. I hope your heat and power stay on! I'm a little worried about ours, as we're not on city utilities, we're on co-op utilities, which don't tend to have the same resources as the city. Still, if we lose power, we at least have a fireplace and a propane cook stove, and we have water.
I hope asshat gets stuck too. What a dumbass.
Your dog is so cute! Ours are significantly larger and they're having a hard time with the snow too.
Stay warm! And yum, fresh home-made bread on a snowy day sounds excellent!
You got the snow we were supposed to get. Now your neighborhood looks the same as mine has for the last week or so! We're like sisters!
Seriously, after getting another foot of snow on top of the two feet we already had, I was beginning to get annoyed at the prospect of ANOTHER foot or more. You're welcome to it.
At least the City of Denver finally decided they needed to plow the side streets, so things are actually passable now. There is a bit of a kerfluffle right now about how Denver was unprepared for this sort of snowstorm, never minding that "this sort of snowstorm" happens about once every five years and nobody around here wants to raise taxes to pay for new schools let alone snow equipment that sits around idle for 4.999 years out of every 5.
In both Idaho and Eastern Oregon, we had snowfall like that. It's eerie, yet beautiful. We've had it a couple of times since I've been in Portland (about every six years, actually), but not nearly that much.
When you can get out, I suggest hitting up REI or something of that nature: a small propane-fueled heater is $50-ish, and the cylinders run about $7/per. They're good for around ten hours of heat; and, if you crack a window open, there are no fumes to worry about.
Why yes, I've done it myself: why do you ask? :)
I'm glad Ree's okay, and I hope Asshat McDipwad doesn't take out anyone in his tooling about.
So take care, stay warm, enjoy the fragrance of fresh-baked bread (remind me to send you a box of the low-carb, diabetic-friendly mix I use), and remember that you're loved. :)
I still look at these pictures in deep envy - my Portland experience says we only get a decent storm every few years and it's NEVER like that. NYE 2003/4 was the last time and even then it was only a few inches (although that's plenty to shut the city down cold).

Did you go play the "plow the streets" flash game at the Denver Post website?

You should pull out a video cam and capture your idiot neighbor. Prime action for that show "Jackass" and a youtube feed.
