My birthday felt like, well...like any other day. Somewhat.
Since I work nights at my job, I usually come home around 12:30-1am and 1am or later on truck nights (when we get a shipment for the week). What was different about the first truck night for this week was the main manager closed with us (she NEVER closes the store) due to one of the co-manager having a medical emergency. So, due to this, everything is done without a hitch and we left at exactly 12am.
I come home to a freshly made pasta dish that happens to be a favorite of mine, which my mother calls it "Master Chawlee". While I've had this dish many times since I was a child, I never got the correct spelling of the second word. It consists of several layers of medium/large macaroni shells, mozzarella cheese, ground beef, pasta sauce, cut up broccoli and various seasoning, all baked with a mozzerella topping. It was very delicious.
And, instead of baking a cake this year, my mother bought a cheesecake sampler, which had different kinds of cheesecake slices (like strawberry swirl, classic NY, chocolate, etc); it was also very delicious. Either me or her will attempt to make a cheesecake for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.
After eating most of all that, I headed to bed. Next day at work was incredibly slow. I was surprised by a $25 gift card from the main manager (and she gave me a hug the night before, which felt kind of weird since rarely if ever hug anyone at work) and various "happy birthdays" from co-workers and the other co-manager (who kept asking if I was going to have a party). Night ended same as usual.
The day before, some comics I ordered a week or so ago finally came in. With these, I was able to knock off a lot of comics off my back issues list, including the elusive All Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder #2, hard to find Exiles #23, and the Spider-Man: Blue HC (which Marvel will be re-releasing soon, for five bux more than the first & second prints). It was also a pay week so not only did I have some money, but I was able to start saving for another laptop (I'll explain what happened in a later entry,
margoyle.) and I got this upcoming Saturday off, so I might just head to Chinatown Fair to finally try out Street Fighter 4.
In a later entry, perhaps I'll go into length about how feel about being "half way to middle age". But for now, all I can say is that I just feel the same usual.
