Hats

What ever happened to the hat as fashion accessory? I mean seriously, all we have now are baseball caps and cowboy hats, which are both tired and overplayed to say the least. If we are going to be in the middle of a depression, the least we can do is bring back the fedora.

I'm all for dressing up or, rather, setting a standard higher than ratty jeans and tank tops for acceptable public atire but there's been a phrase I've been hearing lately, "depression chic" which is really starting to irk me. As if we're just going to play dress up and make this economic trouble into a fashion statement just like we did with environmentalism. That'll only work as long as we all stay out of the bread line which, granted, we're not quite to yet. Still...

Having said that, however, I did like this article:

Dress Like the Great Depression

I occasionally used wear that gangster hat thing and my tricorn until emo kids stole the look and Pirates of the Carribean became super-popular. However it seems that my ski-goggles thing hasn't taken off here, so I am much happy.
