Time Travel

Suppose I gave you a necklace.

Suppose that you then travel back in time ten years.

Suppose you then give the necklace to my younger self.

Ten years pass, and I then give you the necklace so that you can travel back in time to give it to my younger self.

What is the origin of the necklace?

That's similar to the plot of the Avalon story arc of Gargoyles season 2! Substitute Eye of Odin, Phoenix Gate, and Grimorum Arcanorum for necklace.

It depends on your conception of time. Do you believe that time is fixed, or that time is changeable? And if time is changeable, does that change spawn an alternate timeline, or is there only one timeline?

Personally speaking, I'm fascinated by the concept of time travel, which is why it features prominently in the Victorian sci-fi novel that I just wrote.

My friend and I were talking about time travel last night, and she brought up the possibility of having created an alternate timeline by sending the necklace back in time.

Hmm, all this time travel business is going to make my head explode...

But I didn't buy it from a jewelry store. I got it from my time traveling friend, who said she got it from me.

dun dun dun....!

But yeah, maybe I did create an impossible loop.
