The eternal dilemma....should I save up money so that I can afford beautiful lolita outfits and costumes for Halloween and the upcoming DoVs, or can I afford to spend a little bit on "normal" clothes that I can wear to work and in the suburbs of NJ ( Read more... )

I have that dilemma too. I want some more "normal" clothes, but I still want more loli xD I try to get some normal clothes freebies from family (especially my aunt who works in the Strawberry store on 42nd street). But it seems like every time I seek out normal stuff I find myself asking myself "is this loliable?" anyway...haha.

Gah when I found out about KS coming to NYAF I squealed so loud and jumped up and down like a crazy person lol. I've missed out on SO MANY of the artists who came to America this year (Kanon Wakeshima, and Moi Dix Mois ;_________;!!!) So I have to be there to see them, because I adore them!

lol I used to do the same thing...ask "Can I loli this up?" to a lot of stuff I would try on and buy. I don't do it as much now though.

I'm not a big fan of Japanese artists but yeah, KS is gonna be awesome!!

My aesthetic has been changed by lolita, so I find myself stealing from my lolita wardrobe more and more often. Then I remember that society generally frowns on the head-eating bows and put them back for later, haha.

I ought to buy more "normal" clothes. It's been so long that the only "normal" clothes I've got are the shirts I get for free for working Otakon. I have enough of them to wear one a day for three weeks without laundry. I wish I were kidding.

Hey, having free shirts is kind of awesome, don't you think?

I have plenty of clothes, but I'm new at this workplace and even though they allow casual clothes, like jeans and t-shirts, I'm finding that a lot of my things are a bit too childish to wear there.

Exactly. Free clothes are good and all, but they've all got cartoon characters on them, so I can't exactly wear them to work. Alas, I suspect I'm going to have to go clothes shopping soonish :

Yeah, I'm having that problem right now too. I've been obsessed with Hair lately, so I want to add more 1960s hippie/bohemian stuff to my wardrobe, but whenever I go shopping I always end up examining white blouses and hair accessories with bows on them, thinking 'Hmm, could this work with lolita? What about this one?' Argh curse my one track mind >:T

Being a lolita is both great basis for looking at other style trends, and a bad basis since we have a tendency to want everything we own to be loli-able! I was able to shake off that "must be lolita" vibe in my regular clothes, but it took me two years.

I had no idea KS was coming to NYAF! I haven't even started to think about NYAF yet. They're going to be at Webster Hall?
