How did everyone fare during the cold? Cerceus? Hans Stürmhimmel? Joshua? Number VIII? I hope that you are all doing well and have not been too miserable.
I would like to share some observations that I have made.
  • The temperature dropped 52 degrees within the 24 hours preceding the snowfall. The decrease was exponential.
  • The configuration of the stars ( Read more... )

requests, everyone, written, observations, cerceus, hans, joshua, razzat, axel

I'm fine, luv, thanks for asking. I hibernate through the cold. It doesn't actually hurt me, because I'm pretty resistant to temperature extremes, it just makes me really sleepy.

How cold must it be before you are actually harmed by it? Can you survive being frozen?

I can survive arctic waters, but actually being frozen in, like, a block of ice would kill me for other reasons.

Titanium is a very rare, extremely valuable metal notable both for its luster and for it's superior durability. I have never had an opportunity to actually work with it, though I have seen and handled it. Theoretically, I do know how to work it, but I would feel better if I had time to experiment with its characteristics under forge conditions before making a commitment to that answer.

I happen to have some on my person. If I brought it to you, would you be willing to assist me in some experimentation?

Certainly.

Oh, hello again, Ark! I fared well enough, thanks -- [laugh] seem to have avoided misery somehow, at least. [Pffft, he just about froze his ass off; he hasn't completely gotten his head around the notion of chopping firewood yet. Little too stubborn to admit this, however.]

And I'd be delighted to play a game. What sort of game would you like to play?

[[OOC: May have to wait 'til tomorrow evening, though. Finals week; school's going to be a little crazy for me today and tomorrow. =\]]

I'm glad to hear it.

I enjoy any type of game. What games did you enjoy in life?

[[OOC: Understood. ^_^ Best of luck, lol. If you'd like, you can let me know through AIM when the time is good for you - I'm at home most of the day.]]

I asked you first~. But... hm...

[He pauses for a moment; answering that question honestly is hardly an option, and despite what he usually claims, it's... been a while since he played anything that involved neither (a) electronics nor (b) someone getting killed. Still, there are a few fallbacks, and after a second or two the corners of his mouth curl into a faint smile.]

In keeping with the Looking-Glass theme of our last conversation, how do you feel about chess?

[...Ark smiles, a surprisingly human and joyful expression.]

I am quite fond of chess, Joshua. There are no chess sets in the store that I have found, but it will be easy enough to improvise.

[He seems quite surprised that she's asking]

M-me? I'm always alright in the cold...it was worse in winter at home, you know...

I'd really like to have you round...I mean...um, yeah...you don't need to worry about cooking, I'll just...I mean, unless you want to...

I thought perhaps it would make you feel more comfortable. And as I'm asking something of you, it seemed fair to offer something in exchange. I know several traditional recipes from your region of the world, although I don't know if they date as far back as your time period, and while I have never cooked before, it seems like it might be interesting to try.

[He's still really not used to people being so thoughtful]

Well...you aren't asking too much. I mean, it's nice to have the company.

But on the other hand...all I can really cook is game, roat or stewed...you know? So maybe we'd both enjoy it more if you cooked?

And, um, when would you like to come over?

Tomorrow, approximately 10 hours from now - is that acceptable? I will gather appropriate ingredients for our meal.

I had a cell phone upon arriving here. However, it is no longer functional.

Why is it no longer functional? Was it damaged, or has the battery simply expired?

The battery has expired. It was barely functional here to begin with, though.
