In just 13 weeks, 1980 will be 30 years ago. Yipe.

I will be saying next year as 'two-thousand ten', not 'twenty-ten'. I think I will be referring to the next ten years as 'two-thousand {eleven|twelve...nineteen}', but will probably use 'twenty-twenty' for 2020.

Any discussion?

I'll probably be using similar phraseology re the year. People younger than me were, this past decade, noting the date with a single digit for the year: e.g., Sept 18, 2006 became 9/18/6. Chronically. I'd look at those sample tubes sitting in the fridge or freezer, and wonder at how much less the owner had seen of life than you and I had, that that system of thinking about the date didn't get confused with some other decade.
