Did you see the extent of the allergenic prosthetics? Anyone would be funny-looking. All that really matters is that he and his two main henchmen are taller than Andy and Al.
Also, did you see the movies? I only saw the first one, back when it was in theaters, so I don't remember anything and thus made this entirely from online research.

Come to think of it, perhaps the importance of the few Dwarf females could explain why she would go back to him just because he made a fool of her showing how her current guy doesn't care enough about her. I'm sure the fact that he used to be the Sexiest Dwarf Alive had nothing to do with it.
