Thank the gawds, a real day off.

First order of bidness: showing the original Star Wars trilogy to Jessica. Yes, I'm proud of my geekery.

A Star Wars virgin? My mind boggles. Although I guess new ones are born every day, aren't they.

She had always avoided it, but I think having a geek around is rubbing off on her. ;)

Sure, slide on over to Virginia. I made potato salad and am grilling burgers for dinner. Dark chocolate sorbet for dessert!

I was at a birthday party, last month, where it was discovered that one of the attendees had only seen Episode 1 and could not figure out why everyone was *so* enamored of the films. After we picked up our collective jaws at the thought that she had never seen the original trilogy we all were quick to point out that of COURSE she didn't get it if she had never seen the *good* ones. I suspect she has seen then all by now but she is on the opposite side of that circle of friends from me, so I have no clue really.

I remember telling Erik about the original trilogy, as he'd only (no surprise at his age) seen the prequel trilogy. He and I spent a day watching them and, at the end, he looked up and said "Man, those were MUCH better than the new ones!"

That's the exact same reason why I've avoided it so much. I saw Ep. One and it's just. so. awful. that there was no way in hell I was going to sit through more movies with that level of suckitude. That and it became this odd badge of honour that I had never seen them. I would get the shocked looks and hear the gasps and kind of chuckle to myself. I've never seen Back to the Future either, but that's not nearly as impressive.

That all being said: THESE MOVIES ARE AWESOME! I can't believe how much I'm enjoying them!
