Today one of my techs asked me if I'd do her chemistry homework for her.

Say you'll do it for no less than $50,000.

She later asserted that she was kidding--I'd helped her with it a previous week and I guess she got a 100%, so she wanted my help again. Besides, extortion is mean.

Well, yeah. Helping with her homework is quite a bit different than doing it yourself (though a lot of parents don't see the distinction when it comes to their pwecious wittle angel...)

what

By the way, would you know how? I don't have much of a feel for how much of it you really need to know or whether the parts you have to know can be remembered on some other less technical level without harm in practice. What % of it did you retain as a matter of basic literacy in your profession? What areas of chemistry?

Chem for non-majors? Of course I can. If she'd been an actual chem student I'd probably be stuck ( ... )

An IV technician, you say. I guess... they have very limited responsibilities?

Not limited, specific. Pretty much anyone trained to work the IV department in a hospital pharmacy (or other pharmacy) is also competent at other technician-level responsibilities, since they need additional certifications to make IV products. You really do want someone specialized in IV preparation and handling.

"Hm, sure. Carbon forms twelve bonds and oxygen atoms can chain together as polymers, right?"

"Also, the noble gases are so named because they steal electrons from the peasant elements in lower groups."
