1. Well, since they're both legal adults of about the same age, and I doubt he showed her any favoritism (in the classroom, anyway!) I'm not really bothered by the teacher/student thing.
As for Nero... Eh, not to make sweeping generalizations about an occupation, but he was a miner. A mad miner. I feel like...most of the evil, crafty Romulans we've seen have different skill sets. (Not that miners aren't great, but you don't hear too much about megalomaniacal miners.)
My question is why mere miners knew English so well? The Nero actor kinda annoyed me in that sometimes he just sounded 100% American. Kinda bugged me ^^;;
The Romulan ship. I can see the Klingons building that gigantic multi-phallic escaped anime weapon of doom, but not the Romulans
The Shadows from Babylon 5 and/or the Vorlons clearly gave it to them.
I'm happily geeking over this too. Bones was indeed awesome and being he's my favorite character poor Karl Urban had insane expectations to live up to. And Chekov was so freaking adorable with his accent and his exuberance and all that.
*g* Agreed on the high expectations going in for Bones - and he managed to blow them away. And yes! Chekov was so damn cute - and definitely, those bunnies need encouraging. Lots of it.
Schoolwork being done: yes, congratulations. Though I'm just a little heartbroken because I had my last Contemporary Women's Fiction class yesterday, which means both that I have no more of those fabulous classes and that after one more class this week I may never have another class at Aberdeen! Horrid thought.
I'm glad your daughter's ok! A friend of mine posted yesterday very blithely- or seemingly blithely- that she has fever and an upset stomach, and I can't wait till a decent hour to call her and find out what she means, exactly.
Romulans are manipulative? I love manipulative characters. ('Characters' being the operative word.) Now I want to see the series all the more!
Thank you! Congratulations yourself, though it's a pity since you enjoyed it so much. :)
Yeah, have made a lot of jokes about the news and fearmongering over the swine flu, but when my daughter was sick, it was at the back of my head every second. I hope your friends are okay...
Mostly the Romulans in ST:TNG were very manipulative - I loved them to pieces. I don't know that I've seen much of them in TOS. Though there is still quite a bit of TOS I haven't seen, which needs looking into. Hm.
I'm trying not to read this post because of the spoilers, but dammit, I really want to see this movie now. Everyone on my flist has loved it so far. ;)

Very good point. I must've missed that he was a miner - makes the ship a little more understandable, too. :)
