ISO home for small furry creature

The Bean earned a reward a little bit ago and decided she wants a hamster. :)

Before I go out and spend the money on a new cage, wheel, etc., I thought I'd ask if anyone has a used set in good condition they'd be willing to sell?

♥ I am utterly clueless - is there a difference in the cages?

Aha! I could probably just get her a guinea pig, then. They're cuter anyway. *begins researching care and feeding of guinea pigs*

Does it clean easily? Is it solid near the bottom? How much would you like for it?

Have you considered rats? Personally I have five, and they're wonderful intelligent little beasts, who can express incredible amounts of affection. They can be litter trained, and trained to do most anything a dog could (making some allowances for size, of course). Oh, and a guinea pig cage- probably an okay size for 2 rats (you'd have to check the spacing on the bars, though).

Just a thought. : - )

I seriously adore rats. ♥ Unfortunately, my roommate's completely phobic about them. Gerbils are also out of the question, and even a hamster or guinea pig will have to live as far away from her in the house as possible.

Also am not allowed to have a tarantula, which is sad-making. :(

lol. Well, my five little girls are -wonderful-.

It is a shame, but so many people are anti-rats. My mother, for example. She threatened to disown me over the first girls I got. *shrug* What she doesn't know won't hurt her, right? lol.

Turtles make nice pets, too, though that's still in the 'lower human interaction' section of pets.

I am laughing my head off because D's heart's desire for Christmas is a hamster! Hee! It's pretty much all he wants.

That's so cute! :D And nicely easy to shop for. Are you going to give the cage and later let him pick out the hamster, or are you planning to have it out for him on the holiday itself?

We're probably going to get it a bit before Christmas, actually. I want to buy the cage and stuff asap, so we have it, then in December we'll get the hamster. I'll be able to get him a few more presents for under the tree.
