Unfortunately, it wasn't the plastic fuel line that started leaking, but the steel feedline near the tank. (It's rusting through is what started the leak). Replacing that will be short and simple, but needs welding equipment, which neither my car-repair friend Harmless nor I have.
Gonna have to get this one done, sadly, at a shop.
Nope. It was showing leakage right after the alternator went, before any of the repairs. It just stopped leaking real quickly, so I thought the gas leakage was due to the bad alternator (overly rich fuel mixture blowing gas out). It started leaking in seriously right after I filled the tank again.
Nope, this is just an old car failing in multiple points all at once, sadly.
BTW, I saw your commission of Roz with you and Harpy. How much did it cost you -- I'm considering a Harpy commission myself.
oooo neet!! I'll haveta look for the link... on Roz's site maybe?
Though heh, I'm actually supposed to go pick it up up tonight, I know where but not when.. still waiting on the email or call from a buncha folks gathering for dinner... Maybe I'll just go out there and wait. It was $100 tic tacs :> More than some commishes, but still less than the corporate rate, and it's my first-ever commish from her... and it looks like it has come along quite good as far as I've seen from the rough! She also doesn't ask for the payment up front, which is quite admirable. Some folks ya pay up front take months if not years to do stuff, or ya never see it at all. Anyways.. yep!.. Looking forward ta seein' the stuff in person! :D
Be interesting to see what she charges me for a one-character. :> $100 is a bit pricey for 2-char but she's worth it.
And the lack of motivation to finish commissions is why I *NEVER* pay up front for them. I always offer half (or 1/3rd for commissions over $100) with the remainder either paid upon completion (for small ones) or after certain milestones (for big ones).
Though Roz, I would seriously consider it if she asked. She's one of the most reliable artists I know of.
Well, it's an old old car, my Pug is. And it's been trouble free for almost two years. I figure that THAT couldn't last. What I wasn't expecting was everything to let go *at once*.
And there's other worries too, especially related to my acupuncture, but one disaster at a time.
Otherwise, my omnivorous, green-striped friend, your encouragement is always welcome. :>
(Seriously, I'm starting to get certain fundraising ducks in a row, but it's not about the car, which my emergency fund is going to cover -- it's about paying for the treatment keeping me functioning, my acupuncture. But I'm not asking for any money now, and I do need to tell you the story later of what is going on, for reference if nothing else)
And my eartuft is ready to hear the story. :) I was going to get on chat this weekend, and what with one thing and another (including some Safeway soup that did a number on my tummy), I didn't. Must find some time to do that...

I wonder if it's some sort of mistake/malpractice result of the recent repairs...?
