Figured out what the problem was.

To make a long story short, it appears that the seal between the metal filler pipe and the tank has gone bad, far less serious then I originally anticipated. Long as I don't overfill the tank again it should be fine. Worst case: I take it back, have them drain the tank and replace the seal. Not cheap -- about $120 or so -- but not horrible ( Read more... )

It never rains but it pours, eh?

At least it's not another major repair...

~upon returning from this weekend's trip to the mechanics - to replace wheel bearings, after having to replace two tires, after having to replace breaks, after having to replace the other two tires, after having replace distributer, after having to replace the starter, after having to replace gasket, after nearly catching car on fire*...~

I think we should have a contest. The car that makes it to the end of the year with the least amount of repairs wins.

Tell your Pug it's winning and by no means needs to catch up. I'll tell my Kermie the same, on the grounds that it's highly unlikely they'll go online and compare notes.

Who knows? It might work. ^_-

(* - not all this weekend, thank gooodness! Since spring. Kerm's lucky I love him so. And that he's paid for. That helps.)

Yeah, I definitely hear about the paid-for part. Pug was a gift from my sister, who no longer needed the car (since she moved to France). It still took alot of money to get the car working again, but until recently it actually had relatively little maintenance. And it'll be real hard to let Pug go.

Getting a new car would free me from the expensive repairs for a while, but brings with it a host of new costs. It will be a very near thing when I graduate.

(The "Pug" part was because of a low speed rear end collision. It punched the front bumper in on one side, thus, Pug. :)
