Dude, it's MICHIGAN! Consider yourself lucky that you didn't end up having to come here. It'd have been nice to see you here, too, but partly so because misery loves company. :P I'll get to see you again every so often, and you could maybe swing by for a bit before you move on?
It certainly has it's charms, though I think I'll be avoiding downtown D.C. as much as I can in a car. My experience driving around it was nightmarish and this was after-hours, with little traffic.
The public transportation seemed nice, when I used it. I also would take the train to NYC and Philly, those three cities, back and forth, and that was just so NICE. Nice job, and if you ask me, a nice part of the country to really experience, well, STUFF. :D Lots of STUFF over there.
Oh, yeah. I took public transportation during most of the interview. I only took the car on the last day, when I needed to drive around the city. (The nightmare drive was trying to get from Union Station back to my hotel in Bethesda -- not a bad ride by Metro, but absolutely rotten by car).
Getting access to a train again is one of the biggest attractions. Columbus is the only major city in the U.S. that is not serviced by Amtrak, and I've missed that.
Oh, that's awesome. Yes, I mean the D.C. area. I'll be living either in Rockville or around Shady Grove/Gaithersburg. Maybe I can get you, Indigo, and Jennies all together for dinner sometime. :>
I don't, actually. Send me mail at buchmann.3 at osu dot edu. :) It'd be my greatest pleasure to see you when I'm in town. (And maybe pick up a housing tip or two, once I start searching for a new place in earnest)
