What's with men and bloody wars, spiders and skulls, and the undead?

I'm leaning towards the idea that it's not really a gender thing but has more to do with the parenting. It's an age-old tradition that boys play with the manly action figures with big guns and girls are supposed to comb the hair of their Barbie dolls and hold tea parties with their stuffed animals. The children grow more extreme with their interests as they grow older, and eventually we're left with this big gap between "HORRIBLY EVIL DEATHMAN" and "CUTE AND CUDDLY FRIENDKITTEN". I hardly believe it's a simple gender issue.

Well, the age-old tradition you talk about is barely 100 years old. Do you mean to say that before there were guns and dolls, there was no obvious way of telling the personality differences between genders? I can't imagine how much effort it should take to make an innocent child end up worshipping death and it's zombie army. I guess it is as creepy to think girls turn out to be Barbie's image and only learn how to make tea. But the truth is, not many grown-up girls out there still play with dolls and stuffed animals. But men keep the blood-shedding tradition for years, if not all their lifes. You have to admit for guys it's a lot worse than for girls. If guys play Resident Evil when they are teenagers, what do girls do? Talk about guys? I don't think so. When I was a teenager I played music, chatted about everything in this world with my friends, laughed a lot and thought about life and myself. (Still, this is me, I do't count as a reference for the most part) There's a lot of thinking when you're a girl. Maybe it is that ( ... )

And one other thing : I hardly believe that one can judge one extreme as immature and the other as sophisticated. Both the "cute and cuddly" and "death and destruction" concepts have stupid little spinoffs and annoying aspects, but it all boils down to a matter of taste. You enjoy the cute and cuddly stuff and as a result you believe that the other extreme is immature while at the same time you're curious about it. I share the same feelings about cute and cuddly, although I'd probably never admit it. *just admitted it* *confuses himself* *posts anyway*

I guess you're right about the cute and cuddly. I find cute and cuddly extremely amusing. And I know I say "awww...that's cute" far too much. So I guess we are bad in that way. The difference is that cute and cuddly doesn't involve other people getting hurt. Noone gets hurt by cute. How many men have hurt other people? How many women? There's too many things wrong with unpleasant. I just wish it wasn't so fascinating for you people. But maybe violence has nothing to do with men's taste of entertainment...who knows.
