On this day, exactly four years ago, my darling
thedamenoir and I took the plunge and got ourselves hitched.
It's been a long crazy wild ride. I even remember what I said then like it was yesterday.
My Wedding Vows
Since I was a child - I loved four simple words. Whether with a nose in a book, hand to a sketchpad, or eyes glued to a movie screen, the four simple words I lived by were simple:
“Once upon a time.”
I saw stories, read stories, drew stories, and even wrote a few. But always from the outside.
And then I met you. And ever since then, my life has become almost like every story I have ever known. It starts like this:
Once upon a time there was a boy. He was arrogant, headstrong, and generally loved only by his friends who saw potential in him.
As his life went on, he stumbled…. a lot. Never seeming to find his way, he thought he knew where he was going as he just kept getting more lost.
Then, as if by chance, the boy meets a girl. And they find their way out of the woods together. The boy becomes a man when he sees that without her he would be lost.
And this man - or rather me - found that the four words that I loved more than any “once upon a time” were the four words I spoke to you almost two years ago today. Lydia, the four words I cherish now are “will you marry me” because you said yes.
And now here we are.
Lydia - I vow to you today to love you, trust you, honor you, and cherish you for everything you have given me. By loving you, I have learned that my story is incomplete without you. I hope that you and I will always feel as if we’re in a storybook that ends eternally with “Happily Ever After.”
So its been 4 years. And the time has just flown by. In that span of time time we've added a house of our own and a gorgeous pup. We've made new friends and drifted apart from others. Life moves on, and always at the center of it is us. She's my compass in this wild and crazy tempest that is my life. She's the best thing to ever happen to me. All my love, dearest. And here's to many more.
(Taken on that day 4 yrs. ago. She still looks gorgeous, no matter the hair color.) ;-)
