As awful as this is, and I am not saying this whole tragedy is terrible, I think that a complete halt on nuclear energy production is over-reacting to the extreme. This tragedy is well beyond the planning anyone could have imagined. It was a perfect storm of catastrophe. I am honestly impressed with Japan's minimal casualties all things considered (did you see the footage of the wave wiping out a whole village??? Holy moley.)

I think if earthquake and corresponding tsunami hit our own shores... I imagine the death toll, devastation, and disaster would be far, far worse.
