So... it's not the WIPs getting me down (though I'd like to get them OUT). It's not the plethora of poorly caged plotbunnies (*throws more plotbunny chow in the bowl*). Well! An advantage of angst is that the happiness that you can provide at the conclusion is directly proportionate to the level of difficulty the characters go through to get there. No pain, no gain; conversely, lots of pain, lots of gain!

I always find ivyblossom's discussions of the mechanics of fic (and fiction) fascinating, but since I've only had this journal a couple of months, I haven't gone back and looked at her tumblr. Now I have a reason to go back and peruse her archives and the perfect starting point. Thanks!

(Conversely, I've been chewing on this piece by machshefa for quite a while - not so much the mechanics of narrative as the motivations and stumbling blocks.)
