Crossover & Sci-Fi/Fantasy AU Fic Recs

A few of my favorite crossovers, fantasy-based or sci-fi alternate universes, and generally excellent flights of fancy.

Author's Original AU
The World On His Wrist (~31K, gen, PG to R) - bendingsignpost
Elsewhere Come Morning (and now a sequel!) (WIP) (~33K, S/J slash to NC-17)
John's life somehow splits into four versions that run at the same time. In one he never left Afghanistan. In one he never joined the army. And in two he lives in London with different versions of Sherlock Holmes. Reinterpreted scenes, OCs, John being bamf, and an author who can write the walls down around your ears.
Sherlock holds his jacket for him, a gesture of impatience, not assistance. Jacket on, those hands settle momentarily upon his shoulders, and the feeling tears through John, worse than a gunshot, worse than any wound, worth any wound.

(WIP) The Prize by trillsabells (~100K, S/J, R - NC17, warnings)
On 29 January 2010 an unknown Event wiped out 98% of the population. This is the story of the survivors, four months on.
They say it came in a wave of gold light. They say that anyone touched by the light was immediately turned to dust. They say that plants and animals were vaporised where they stood. They say that every plane of glass in the world shattered in an instant. They say that as one, the people screamed. No one really knows, because no one who saw survived.

And after that, everything went to hell.

A Study In Emerald
(The original) A Study In Emerald - Neil Gaiman

A Study In Midnight (~41K, PG-13 to R, casefic, gen to R in final paragraph) - sound_of_bells / M_Leigh
Novella length. Suspenseful, fabulously plotted casefic that pits the two ringleaders of the anti-monarch revolution against the world's leading consulting detective and his doctor sidekick. Irene Adler and other canon characters make their appearance.

The Queen's Guard (~6K, PG-13, gen) - lavvyan
In the caves of Afghanistan, John died once already. But in a world ruled by creatures more terrible than divine, death isn't always permanent.
Sherlock, John, Irene Adler, James Moriarty. Knowledge of Lovecraft not required, but you should definitely read ASIE to orient yourself first.

His Dark Materials
The Republic of Heaven (WIP as of 12/2011) - blind_author (also on fanfiction.net)
A lengthy, complicated interweaving of Pullman's world and BBC. S/J. Sherlock's daemon is a polecat and John's daemon is a wolf/dog hybrid. Mycroft's is a raven.

Good Omens
I Used To Live Alone Before I Knew You (~5K, T) - etothepii (also on AO3 under Stochastical)
Mycroft and he have an Arrangement, of sorts. They tell both sides that they're winning.
I can't even. Just read, okay? Prior knowledge of GO not required.

Torchwood/Doctor Who
Holmes v. Harkness (4K, PG, implied S/J and M/L) - kikainausagi
Crossover with Hitchiker's Guide.
Jack stares. "You have a copy of the Guide," he finally manages, in a sort of flat, how-is-this-my-life monotone.
