Wrapping my arms around his slim waist, I pulled him closer, our bodies flush against each other as he rested his arms over my own. I softly kissed the back of his neck as I laid my head down, whispering a soft “I love you,” along with it. He tightened his grip ever so slightly on my hand in response and I knew he was simply too tired to say anything. Even if I couldn’t get to sleep, the least I could do was help him, I thought, but as his breath evened out into a steady rhythm, I found my eyelids getting heavier as well. It was only about a half an hour later that they fell shut and I drifted off for the first time in four days.
