The law enforcement system exists for a reason - societal rules have been agreed upon, and a group of individuals has been entrusted to uphold the rules. Those who act outside of that system are exactly that - outside of the system. Allowing citizens to take the law into their own hands generally ends in disaster - they are untrained and ill-equipped and, frankly, often working with their own agendas.

Even if they get results vigilante justice is against the law, and for a reason. Civilians taking the law into their own hands are likely to cause unnecessary risk to themselves and others through their actions, sir.
