Crowd-sourcing for horror movies

Obviously, I'll be sitting in celebrating hallowe'en alone, probably with some form of SPOOKY COCKTAILS.

Any recommendations for horror films so I can get torrenting in advance?

I prefer psychological tension to tedious gore.

Here are some horror/supernatural/fantasy - type media that I enjoy/ have been frightened by, depending on genre:

REC? Never been so scared in all my life! Though it's not so much psychological. Also, Jacob's Ladder. That will fuck with your head! Ooh and Moon! And Sunshine gets very scary in parts.

Sorry I can't help you with any movie recs, you mentioned most of the horror movies I've seen, maybe just IT from Stephen King? I still like that movie and find it scary. For reading, I would say Stephen King (some of his books are really great, especially The Long Walk which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) and Dean Koontz (he knows how to keep you on your toes lol) .

Ohh, I'll definitely be checking these out. One horror novel I rec is Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill. AMAZING book. I just got Joe Hill's book of short horror stories too, and they're excellent so far. That one's called 20th Century Ghosts, and both are lovely horror reads.

I agree wih much of your taste in horror here.

How about the 90s TV miniseries Ultraviolet? It's rather dark and suspenseful take on vampires with little gore, and in some parts even the heroes are genuinely terrifying.

The X-Files is also an excellent choice. Stick to the 'Monster of the Week' episodes instead of the 'Mytharc' if you're not familiar with the show. I picked out some more psychologically thrilling episodes for you :)

Squeeze
Darkness Falls
Sleepless
Irresistable
Unruhe
Bad Blood (slightly more humorous, but with Luke Wilson as a vampire!)

I stalk read your public entries for your Sherlock fic.
