You confess yourself completely thrown.

“You think so?” you ask, allowing him some wriggle room in case he wants to change his mind.  Or expand on his previous statement.  Or yell at you to keep out of his business.

“Of course it was, it was extraordinary, it was quite... extraordinary,” the man continues.  The man.  Doctor John Watson.  Whom you met ( Read more... )

Loved this but the whole "calling in a few favors and getting his therapist's notes" thing made me cringe. I don't know how or who - but here in the USA that would NEVER happen without the permission of the client or a court order (and even then all I'd send is my evaluations - much more general than the session notes).

Sorry, can't take my psychotherapist hat off - even when reading fanfic.

Heh, well I'm sure it wouldn't really happen. But I'm equally sure that they wouldn't let Sherlock into a crime scene when he isn't on the police payroll or accredited in any way, and they do that all the time, so I think it works in-universe.

Sorry for making you cringe though!

(Not to mention we've already seen Mycroft get access to John's therapist's notes quite easily, so we know it's possible)

Oooh, I liked this.

I'm surprised at how well second person works for Sherlock in general, and this is not an exception to that rule. The characterisations, especially Sherlock's, also ring really true to me. (I did feel like the text messages Sherlock sent were a bit ... much, but it's a pretty small complaint.)

Love it! Holmes is such a difficult character to write, and you managed to make him somewhat sweet and relatable without taking him out of character.
