Too Human

So, I picked up Too Human on Wednesday. At this point, I'm about 8-10 hours into the game, I've just finished the third mission, and I believe there are supposed to be 5 total missions. So after putting in this much time, I think that I know enough about the game to discuss it ( Read more... )

Well, I know Destructoid has been taking shits on the game a lot. And once one big review site does, all of them do. They don't want to look like the lonely onlys who stand up for what everyone else deems to be crap games because then their reliability with readers goes down the john ever so slightly. The fact that Dyack or whatever his name is is running the show also makes the game a big target for reviewers, who are just as if not more susceptible to the interet fuckwad theory.

Just based on your review it seems to me that they rushed the game out. Sometimes design flaws are just areas they didn't have time to polish and when put in a tight spot they claim that it's as designed. You have to take every review with a grain of salt...I think I'm going to wait for its debut on Zero Punctuation.

Ultimately, I think the game succeeds as a whole. It is a good game. It falls pretty short of "great" though. The backstory is more of an appetizer than a main course; it only leaves you wishing there was more. The gameplay is a ton of fun, but if you make poor class build decisions it can be truly frustrating as you get very acquainted with the Valkyries. But I think it's somewhat telling that as soon as the warhammer online preview weekend started, I haven't thought about playing Too Human since. I'll probably start in on it again shortly, but the preview weekend sucked away a bunch of time.
