Ah, see, now that's why Jack is the right person for her, and Pete isn't. Pete would make the mistake of trying to make her world better, calmer, less angsty, and more normal. It would break who she is if he succeeded. Jack knows better than to try that. He just helps her to recharge the batteries, and go out there knowing he has her back all the way, even if it means he bears a burden she may never see.

This is a wonderful glimpse at what makes Sam a true heroine; the way that she can make the tough decisions without walling away her humanity or learning not to feel it.

And...uh...thanks for making the waiting period only two days. I console myself that two days is not all that long...

Oh, Pete would have been awful for her. She would never have been happy with him, it would have been the prime example of someone settling for less. Way less. Yeah, Pete? Nope. And I really did try to give him a chance for, like, half a second when we first met him.

Haha, the waiting period is due to the muses having grabbed Sam and Jack and now going haywire with them. At this rate I'll be writing smut by the weekend, lol.
