This is fabulous. You tread that line between CO and friend really well, and even if Jack doesn't feel 100 percent comfortable, there's the sense of surety and rightness and friendship all through this.

And oh my heart, We needed her more than you did. I just don't even know what to say because they did, *Earth* did...but Jack, oh Jack! *flails*

I know! Jack... *sigh* And Sam, really. *sigh* I don't even, I CAN'T! Heartbreak and tragedy... But really, out of all the fandoms I've written for (like, three) these two are the most fun to write because they're just so... heart string-tearing in a sobbingly pleasant way.

Oh this is wonderful! I'm such a sucker for this kind of Jack & Hammond fic (Hammond! <3) and you've hit all my happy buttons with this.

That one line I actually carried around with me for a week and a half while I was on vacation and then ended up building the story around it. I'm glad it worked out for everyone, I quite liked it.

I sighed so very much while writing this, I probably sounded like the saddest panda in the universe. It's just the tragedy of these two that makes them so damn perfect. *sigh*
