Waking up in his own bed was something of a novelty for the past week, and so was sleeping in it with Jared. That was perhaps why Jensen struggled to cling onto unconsciousness as long as possible. But something was disturbing him and he wasn't awake enough yet to realize what it was. With two kids in the house, it could be anything. He let go of the dream he was having and let reality sink in instead. The comfortable and familiar smell of Jared filtered in, the warmth of his arm wrapped around Jensen's chest.

Then Jensen became aware of what had disturbed him. He smiled to himself, turning his head slightly as Jared moved against him in shallow little thrusts. "Jay?"

There was no answer, so Jensen said his name again, louder. This time Jared moaned softly, but didn't stop moving. He was still asleep. Jensen closed his eyes for a second, then carefully but firmly dug his elbow back into Jared's ribs. There was a loud snort and then Jared spluttered out something incoherent before he came to, moving his arm off Jensen and sitting up.

"Jensen, what the fuck?"

"You were humping me. In your sleep."

Jared laughed sharply, slid back down until his head hit the pillow again. Jensen rolled over to look at him, smiled when he saw the amused grin on Jared's face.

"I was fucking you in my dreams."

"I figured." Jensen reached across, settled a hand against Jared's chest as he pushed himself up and leant over to kiss him. "Good morning." Trailing his hand down the center of Jared's tattooed chest and stomach, he shot him a filthy smile. "We should have a go at making your dreams come true."

"Okay, if you promise to stop with the cheesy porn dialogue." Jared glanced over his shoulder at the clock. "What about the kids?"

"We have a little bit of time before they wake up. Enough time for..." Jensen trailed off, curled his hand around Jared's half-hard dick through his pyjama pants. "Something." He let go, pushed gently at the elastic waist of the bottoms and Jared lifted his ass and helped to get them off. They were kicked off the end of the bed and Jensen moved up onto his knees, his mouth on Jared's as their tongues wound together in a slow kiss. Jared's hand cupped the back of his head, holding him where he was as if he had some intention of moving. Jensen wrapped his fingers around Jared's dick in turn, started slowly jacking him as the kiss got deeper.

They both started at the sound of a scream from elsewhere in the house. Jared cursed and Jensen half-rolled, half fell from the bed in his hurry to get up. There was another yell as he grabbed his jeans and hauled them up his legs.

"Hannah," Jared muttered, as he scrambled from the bed too and picked up his pyjama pants. Jensen didn't look back as he opened their bedroom door and went out, calling Hannah's name. Matty's bedroom door opened a crack and the boy peered out, looking worried.

"Dad?"

"It's okay, go back to bed." He was well aware that Matty didn't move, but didn't tell him again as he opened the door to Hannah's room. It was empty, the bedclothes strewn across the floor. Jared was out in the hallway when he came back out and they checked the bathroom together. Still no Hannah. Jensen was first down the stairs and when he stopped short at the bottom of them, Jared almost crashed into him. Hannah was down on the floor of their living room, her face pressed against a cushion and her hands balled into fists at either side of her head. She was on her stomach and her nightdress was wet. The TV was on a few feet away from her and Jensen realized with a sick feeling just what was playing on its screen. Jared was one step ahead of him, already reaching for the remote to turn the movie off as Jensen knelt down on the floor next to Hannah.

"Hey, c'mon little H."

She didn't look at him, just pressed her face harder against the cushions. Worried she might just suffocate herself, Jensen set his hands to her shoulders to try and ease her up. She kicked out at that, and Jensen huffed as her foot connected, letting go of her. Jared said her name then, his voice sharp, and she went still.

"No more playing around, Hannah. Get up."

She didn't move to do as he said, but she did at least lift her head up a little bit. Jensen could see that her cheeks were flushed - embarrassment or anger, he wasn't sure - and that she'd been crying. Jensen and Jared seemed to constantly be playing good cop-bad cop with her and it was usually Jared that got some kind of response. Now was no different. He told Hannah again that she needed to get up and she pushed herself up, moving until she was sat on the floor with her legs crossed.

"What's going on?" Jensen asked, keeping his voice gentle. "Where'd you find the movie?" He knew for a fact that he and Jared kept everything that was unsuitable for either child locked away in their room. The few adult or horror movies they owned were stowed in a safebox, the key for which Jared kept on his own bunch of keys. They took no chances, so how Hannah had gotten hold of their copy of Night Of The Living Dead, he had no idea. Unless she had figured it out and stolen the key, taken the movie from their room when they were both occupied.

Jared apparently had the same thought, as he left the room for a minute and came back with his keys, holding them up to Hannah. She watched him, although she didn't look at all scared.

"When did you take my keys?"

She didn't say anything, just looked at him defiantly.

"Fine. You're grounded for a week. No allowance."

That got a response. Jared knew full well that Hannah had been invited to a party at the weekend by one of her classmates, two days from now, and she got a panicky look on her face. "But Shelley's birthday-"

"Is on Saturday. I know. You're still grounded. Taking things from me, or from Dad, is wrong. We keep those things locked away for a reason. They aren't for children."

The little girl had gone silent again and Jared met Jensen's eyes.

"Jen?"

"Do you want to clean her up or make breakfast?"

"I'll get Hannah cleaned up." Jared held out his hand for the little girl and she stared at it for a moment, then reached out and took it. He helped her to her feet and they wordlessly went upstairs. Jensen picked up the cushion she'd been using and took the cover off it to wash. There was a patch on the carpet too that he knew he'd have to clean up before he did anything else. They'd had this a couple of times since Hannah had arrived, just like Kim had warned them they might. If she wasn't in a horrible mood afterwards she would usually let Matty cuddle her, but Jensen doubted that would be happening today. He scrubbed the carpet clean and sprayed it with Febreze. Upstairs he could hear Jared talking in a loud voice, and Hannah crying, but he couldn't make out what was being said. He thought maybe it was as well that he couldn't.

Matty came downstairs first, already washed and dressed for school, while Jensen was halfway through making bag lunches, coffee, and waffles. Jensen ruffled his hair as he went past, making the boy duck and complain.

"Is Hannah okay?" he asked, as he took his seat at the kitchen table.

"She's okay," Jensen assured him. "She just did something she shouldn't have done, that's all."

"Is that why Daddy's mad?"

"He's not mad at you, Matty." Jensen reached over and patted the boy's shoulder. "Don't worry about it, all right?" He could see that his words didn't stop Matty from worrying at all, his brow furrowed in deep thought. Hoping to distract him, Jensen asked if he wanted peanut butter and jelly in his sandwiches, or cheese.

"Peanut butter," Matty said.

"Cheese tomorrow then. And no chocolate today."

"Da-ad."

"You'll thank me when you've still got your own teeth at age 40."

Matty rolled his eyes at that, but at least he was smiling now. Jensen put a plate of waffles in front of him, and a glass of juice, and finished packing up the two lunches. He didn't look up when Jared arrived back downstairs with Hannah in tow. She was a lot more subdued looking and sat at the table without a word. Jensen set her breakfast in front of her and poured Jared, now dressed in jeans and Harley t-shirt, and himself a coffee. Jared took it from him with a soft, quick kiss, and sat down next to Matty.

"So, what's going on today?" he asked, looking between both children. "Any tests or after-school stuff?"

Matty shook his head, then looked at Jared with the look that they both knew meant he wanted something. "Dad-dy?"

"Yeah?"

"Can we go swimming after school today? Please?" Jensen couldn't help but smile at the question, as well as the way in which it was asked. It was like Matty had taken pointers from watching Jared ask Jensen for something, and using his methods the best he could. It made him prouder still that Matty shared one of his passions and that he loved to go swimming in the local pool whenever they had the time to take him. Jared was looking at him and Jensen shrugged.

"I can't go, but if you want to take them both then it's fine. I won't be done at work."

"I don't want you to feel like you're missing out."

One look at Matty's face told Jensen that if he said no, he'd have a very moody little boy on his hands. "It's fine, Jared. I'll come with you next time. I'm going to grab a shower so I'll bring their things down with me."

"Okay." Jared turned his head for the kiss Jensen gave him as he went past, his mug of coffee held tight in his hand. He planned to drink it while he showered, to save time. "Hey," Jared said, just as Jensen reached the stairs. "What we got started earlier? We'll finish that up when you get in tonight, okay?"

"If I can stay awake."

"Don't worry. You'll stay awake."

Jensen liked these mornings best. When his shift at the hospital started at an hour which meant he could drop Matty and Hannah off at school and get to stop by Jared's shop before the other staff got there and spend a few minutes with him before heading off. Jared would set off for the shop on his Indian while Jensen was still getting the kids into the car, and Matty would inevitably ask why they couldn't go on Jensen's Triumph. He saw Matty looking longingly at the tail-lights of Jared's bike as the other man zipped off after a quick goodbye and caught his boy's eye in the rear-view mirror.

"Maybe he'll take you out at the weekend," he said, before the boy could get a chance to ask.

"Promise?" Matty asked instead.

"I said maybe. We'll see how good you are."

Hannah was still silent and he could see that she was staring moodily out of her window. Matty would get to go out on the bike while she was stuck at home with Jensen, grounded. He knew she must feel pretty horrible about that, but he also knew that he couldn't promise the same thing to her. Jared had told her she wasn't going anywhere and neither of them were in the habit of going against the other. When he pulled up outside the school and got out to open the back door, Hannah was out like a shot. She ran past her teacher, Miss Shannon, and up the steps even before Jensen had a chance to say goodbye.

Miss Shannon, Kara as she had introduced herself the first time they'd met, came over as Jensen grabbed Matty's backpack and handed it to him once he was out of the car. He smiled at her and said good morning and she returned the greeting, waiting while he ducked down to give Matty a hug and say goodbye.

"Have a good day, all right? I'll see you tonight before bed, I hope."

"Bye, Dad!" Matty called out, hurrying off to where his friends were gathered near the school doors.

"Doctor Ackles, anything I should know?"

Kara always stopped to speak with him if she could, or Jared if it was him dropping the two youngsters off at school. She taught a small group of children which included Hannah, along with another teacher.

"Hannah doesn't seem very happy this morning. Am I in for a rough day?"

Jensen smiled at the look on the young woman's face. He knew she was teasing, but he also knew he should warn her about what had happened that morning. He told her what punishment Jared had given and that Hannah was just upset about missing the party at the weekend.

"She doesn't like Jared getting mad at her very much. It does make me wonder why she does these things in the first place."

"Most children don't tend to think far enough ahead to consider the consequences. She'll get over it."

"I hope so. You can call me or Jared if she gives you any trouble."

"I'm sure we'll cope."

"Thanks, Kara. Jared will be picking them up later on since I'm at work."

Kara nodded and said goodbye, moving off to talk to some other parents who had just arrived. Jensen sighed to himself, hoping that Hannah at least behaved at school, and got back in the car. He drove round to the shop, laughed when he saw Jared standing out front with his arms folded across his chest. He tapped his wristwatch as Jensen pulled up to a stop and Jensen gunned the engine with the parking brake on, just to get Jared smiling.

"You're gonna be late," Jared said, as Jensen got out of the car and came around the front of it to join him.

"Worth it," Jensen told him, wrapping his arms around the other man. He pulled Jared down until their lips met and kissed him slowly. He moved away, shivering at the light touch from Jared's hand to the back of his neck. "I think Hannah's going to be a bit of a nightmare tonight."

"I can handle it."

"I don't know whether to be grateful she chose Living Dead instead of one of the porn dvds you have stashed in there or not. You know?"

"It's pretty bad either way. I brought the movies here now to keep them in my office. No way she'll be able to pull that trick again."

"If it's not this then it's going to be something else, isn't it? What're we doing wrong?"

"Hey, don't." Jared held him tight again, kissed his temple. "We're not doing anything wrong. Kim warned us during the assessments. Hannah wouldn't have come to us if they didn't think we could help."

"Really? 'Cause this morning I felt pretty helpless."

"It'll get better. She's only been with us for six weeks."

Jensen nodded. He knew. It didn't make him feel any better today, though. "I'd better head to work, before they start to miss me."

"What time will you be home?"

"I'll aim for the kids' bedtime. Can't make any promises though." He stepped out of Jared's hold, left him with one more kiss before getting back into the car.

Jensen made it home just as Jared was putting both Matty and Hannah to bed. He stuck his head round the door to Matty's room and found Jared in there, just getting up from where he'd been sitting on the end of the boy's bed. Matty looked up at him as he came in and smiled sleepily.

"Hey, Matty. How'd the swimming go?"

"Really good," Matty answered.

"He ran rings around me," Jared said.

"You need to practice more," Jensen told him.

"Apparently. Or you need to come with us next time and show him up." Jared winked at the little boy as he laughed. "C'mon, I got some food ready for you. Figured you wouldn't eat properly at work."

"Ah, you spoil me. G'night, son."

"'night, Dad," came the tired-sounding reply. Jared followed Jensen out and gently shut the door. Hannah's door was slightly ajar, just as it was every night. She hated sleeping with the door closed, liking the comfort of the light creeping in from the hallway.

"How was she tonight?" Jensen asked, as they started back downstairs. "Did she behave at school at least?"

Jared shrugged. "She was okay. She sat on the edge of the pool and sulked while me and Matty had a swim. And the school had no complaints."

"No tantrums?"

"She refused to eat her dinner. So she went hungry." At the look on Jensen's face, Jared shook his head. "Whatever, man. I warned her three times and I gave her half an hour to eat it. She'll eat in the morning."

"When's it going to get better again?"

Jared didn't answer that. In the kitchen he made Jensen sit and put a beer in front of him while he heated up the dinner he'd made earlier. Once Jensen was eating, Jared sat opposite him and rested his elbow on the table, and his chin in his hand. "How was your day, honey?"

Jensen swallowed and poked his tongue out, making Jared laugh. It broke the tension a bit and Jensen slid his beer across the table, told Jared to finish it. "It was okay. Remember me telling you about Connor?"

"The boy with, uh, the heart problem?"

"Yeah, he came in a couple of weeks ago, really ill. He went home today. Has to have regular checks, but...He's home with his parents."

Jared smiled at that. "That's awesome."

Jensen nodded. "I got a new patient, too. Little girl called Louria. She reminds me of Ally."

"She gives you sass?"

"Exactly. You wouldn't think she was so ill." Jensen looked thoughtful for a second. "Huh. Just like Ally, I guess." He took another mouthful of food and hummed around it. "This is really good."

"Thank Jamie Oliver. I'm getting real good at following recipes."

"Did Matty help?" Jared took a quick swig of beer and Jensen nodded, grinning. "Figured."

"Eat up, anyway. I said I had plans for you, while it's not too late."

They took a bath together after Jensen finished his dinner, Jared getting in first and pulling Jensen into the water between his open legs. Jared rested his head on Jensen's shoulder with a smile and murmured against his ear, making him shudder.

"Just before you go ahead and call me a girl for this, I want you soaking wet. I want us both soaking wet. Soon as we get out of this tub I wanna take you in the bedroom and fuck you."

Jensen dipped his head forward, letting out a low moan when Jared's hand slid down his wet chest and under the water, where it wrapped around his cock. Jared nipped at his ear, sucked at the lobe, and that made Jensen shiver again, despite the steam that was rising up around them.

"And, oh yeah, the kids are asleep. So you gotta be really, really quiet."

"Mmm, I hate you."

"Give me ten minutes," Jared said, setting a slow rhythm on Jensen's cock. "I'm sure I can change your mind."
