I think we, as humans, tend to be typically disconnected with nature. Being outside, even in short bursts can re-establish that connection at least briefly. It can let us know that we're more than just a sum of social obligations and chores. That life is more than just the pervasive technology present in our lives. It can also create a sense of awe and humbleness unmatched by other activities.

I've thought about kayaking more before too, I've done it a few times and it can be a good bit of fun, plus it ends up being good exercise whether you want to or not. Most every time my arms become significantly sore after trying it out. I recently bought a cheap groupon to try Kayaking around here. Maybe you should see if anything similar is available around your area.

I've gotten a few Groupons in the Daytona area for kayaking and they were great. There isn't too much in the way of "active" Groupons in this area, mostly food and shopping. :/ I haven't checked lately, though. There are a lot of rivers within 2 hours of us that sound really awesome.

I had read while skimming FB about how spending even as little as 5 minutes outdoors boosts mood and probably other things, too. Sometimes I am just too busy to read, haha. But not really. I'm a bad person for skimming...

Plus getting sunlight can boost energy levels and provide vitamin D. It's like free vitamins by being outside on a nice sunny day!

I saw your post on the Question Club comm concerning your sister's cats, this sounds like a classic hoarder thing. Keeping cats locked up like that is not good for her or the cats.

I can't join TQC. They won't let me in so I came to you! :)
