Last weekend was the Ultimate Typing Championship in Austin, Texas, the only thing I was looking forward to all year in my perpetual state of unemployment...
Any impression of Austin or Town Lake? First time I came to Austin, in 1987, I stayed at the Radisson. The lake & hike & bike trail was a complete surprise. I fell in love with Austin, & moved here.
I didn't really see much of anything there, as my entire stay there was concentrated within about a five-block radius of the convention center. I was actually in Austin less than two days; not really enough time to go exploring. Looked like pretty much any other major city I've been to...granted I have not been to many.
That is awesome! In the video, were you typing the "nonsense" (125 WPM) text? The article said that you were in the video "below", but the video was above.
I hope your appearance fees are plentiful as keyboard makers jet you here and there. :-)
Yes, above. And it was 124-79. They just got the speeds wrong...I copied and pasted the texts and the speeds before even calling my mom, which was thoughtless of me.
I haven't heard of very many other typing competitions with cash prizes (that would be an even more unreasonable source of income than Scrabble, probably...granted tournament Scrabble players have to pay for hotel rooms and stuff, so they're even worse off), but I'll be on the lookout...especially that I now (shudder) have fans who alert me to all the typing sites I've been missing.
