Did not get to Prague, but I had family who worked and lived there two years. I know it is a beautiful place. Cesky Krumlov is really small, compared, but it is old, too, and beautiful as well.

Some of our group did go on to Prague.

Wow, so many fabulous places you’ve seen, and so many memories under your belt! Wonderful, Ares, and thank you for sharing with us!

We sent the men off to do men things, and sat and chatted and laughed and plotted. Be warned, people. Dark Star is always on the go when it comes to live journal and her interest in our fandom. :)

Do people need to be warned about my projects?? Warned about offering to help, maybe…!

It was wonderful to meet the friends one makes on the internet. And, to know that these friends will be friends for life.

It was fun, wasn’t it? I’m just glad we’re still friends…!

Ahem! :)

I'm sorry we didn't have more time to explore Kent, and Whitstable. Bruce did want to see Dover, (we flew by on the Eurostar and didn't see a thing) and we never did get to Rochester Castle. Flying visits are just that, flying.

But we were very flexible in what we did. It was all good. Terrific, in fact. I think we did marvellous, considering we only had nine days.

What do you mean, we're still friends... :)

Awesome! And I'd actually been to some of the places you mentioned, so I got to see them in my mind's eye and get all excited for you.

So glad you (and Jo and DS & all) got to have this trip!

I'm glad I've brought back some memories for you.

We only saw a few cities so I really don't know what most of Europe is like, but I did love the countryside.

And we travelled the river with hubby's sister and her hubby. They were great company too.

Sounds like an awesome trip! I'm glad all of you enjoyed yourselves. Thank you for sharing this.

The amount of gold was astonishing, and the fact that there were saints on display, in their skeleton glory, was very creepy.

This reminded me of when I went to the Winter Palace in Russia. They've got so much gold everywhere (even the doorknobs) though no skeletal saints.

You've been to Russia? And the amount of gilt and gold is the same? Wow!

While we were still cruising, our party of four were checking out the other river cruises. We were looking at the Russian one, although the cruise line has to hire a Russian boat - the Russians don't allow foreign boats, apparently, in the cruises, we were told: and also at the river cruise that ventures into France and ends up in Switzerland.

I regret that we were two days out for the Floriade in Amsterdam. I really wanted to see that. When in England, I saw more tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths than in Europe. The UK had a very warm spell - after a dreadful couple of weeks of freeze - and there flowers everywhere. Europe, being all that cooler, only had a few of its flowers out.

The skeletal saints were a surprise, and I found them fascinating, if ickworthy.

Well, I've never been to Melk or Durnstein, but there's a lot of gold in the old royal palaces in Russia. It's beautiful. I went last year over the summer on a cruise through the North and Baltic Seas. It was fun seeing so many different countries.

All the flowers sound beautiful... What's the Floriade? I've never heard of it. Though I can bet it's about flowers.

You won your bet!

I thought everyone knew about the floriade. It's the Dutch flower festival that starts April 1st or 2nd. Tulips, daffodils galore, among other things.

The International Floriade in the Netherlands is only held once every ten years and this is one of those years, and we missed it by two days. We had left the Netherlands on the day.

However, most countries have their own floriades, or spring flower festivals. Living in the southern hemisphere, ours is in Sept/Oct.

It sounds like a lovely trip. I'm so jealous that you got to meet Jo and DS in person! I'm glad you enjoyed the snow, and sailing down (up?) the rivers. Budapest is a beautiful place, I agree.

Sorry, you got sick on the way home, but at least you were home. Everything will get put away eventually. I'm glad you're safely home with wonderful memories.

Sailing down the river. Yes. It was fantastic, and meeting Jo and DS was wonderful also.

As you say, there's no better place to be sick than at home. Thank you. We do have some super memories, we're going through the photos, all 3700 of them. Heh!
