OH I LOVE THIS. I was always a little annoyed it took this long for Xander to fess up to his lie, Buffy never knew about it before did she?

I fully expect her to have died if she had known Willow was returing Angel's soul, she would have dropped her guard and been on the defensive, rather then the offensive, which is what she needed to do to win. So i didn't begrudge Xander lying, after the fact. Though i was a little annoyed during it.

His double standards about Angel and Anya have always annoyed me, expecially as Anya always had her soul when she cursed those men.

I would have actually liked to see a scene between Angel and Anya talking about the past and how they have changed, i think that would have been nice to see.

anyway, great work.

Why thank you. I'm with you. I was very angry at Xander and what he told Buffy in S2. He lied to Buffy. In hindsight it was for the best, but don't forget when she had left Sunnydale Xander never told anyone about his lie, that she may have had to kill Angel because of it. And she had.

Thanks for your feedback, sweetie.

Thank you. I'm pleased you like it.

There's not many episodes I like in the later seasons but this was definitely one of the highlights for me. Buffy's speech about her love for Angel in that scene where Xander is begging for her not to kill Anya warmed the cockles of my heart.

Like others have said, I was always annoyed that Xander lied to Buffy, and we know it was to make himself feel better, rather than it any noble reason. As it happens, it was the right thing to do - she would have held back for Willow and probably would have died in the process.

Lovely rosebud, my dear. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah. I was dancing in my seat when Buffy confronted Xander in that episode. I don't know whether in the show she found out about the lie, but I think that she heard enough to make a reasonable deduction.

Thank you for the prompt and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Excellent rosebud! Like everyone else here, I hated that Xander lied to Buffy and that it took so long for the lie to be called out. And when it was, the matter was brushed aside quickly - understandable since it has been years, but still annoying. Thinking back on it, perhaps it was for the best that he lied since she could've died while holding back. Nonetheless, a lie is still a lie.

Thank you for the story :)

The show almost glossed it over, didn't they? Willow's retort was cut off mid sentence and it was as if Buffy hadn't a clue. But I think she's a smart Buffy and would have put two and two together.

A lie is still a lie. And it's not the first time Xander lied to Buffy. When he was infected by the hyena spirit he attempted to rape Buffy and then pretended he had no memory of his time under its control. But in a later episode Giles found out that Xander did remember everything. I suppose he was still a teen and he can be forgiven his ways because he was an immature young adult.

To me, IMO, Xander should have at least apologised - both times - to Buffy. It's the least one should do for a friend.

Thank you for reading and giving great feedback.

Yes! What's done is done, but he could've at least apologized for it. However, I don't think he regretted either one of the lies (though he did regret what he did while possessed by the hyena - it was easier for him to pretend he didn't remember so he didn't have to talk about it) and so didn't feel the need to apologize. Ugh, now I'm mad at Xander. I like the guy, more so in the later seasons, but he has a habit of making me angry.

I hear you. I feel the same way.:~)))

He does do stupid things, and then he goes and does something incredibly brave, sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident. Buffy can see the best in him and he ought to remember that. He is a lucky guy to have her call him friend.
