World of Warcraft Programming

Does anyone know of some good references for World of Warcraft programming? I've decided to work on a raid add-on, but I have no "real" programming experience, just a lot of logic and some scripting in non-common programming languages (e.g. Maple). Links appreciated.

What kind of addon are you looking to create?

I have an idea for a good raid set-up system, but it's a bit complicated, so I thought I might streamline it a bit by automating a good portion of what's required. Easiest way to do that would be an add-on.

If you find one, let me know. I'm hardly a scripting newb but I found the Blizzard tutorials to be borderline useless. "Look at other addons for examples" only works once you can figure out what you're looking at.
