Came back from Prague, but I wish I stayed there for eternity...

Hi all, I came back from Prague yesterday. I had an amazing time in there and I wish I didn't come back at all.

As you know, I went there because of an exhibition. Well, the exhibition was terrible for my companies but anyway, let's leave the work aside.

I had 4 days (not all the day but about 4-5 hours a day) to walk around the city and explore it ( Read more... )

> The only problem I faced with was the lack of English speaking people

that really doesn't sound nice to me... My husband and i move to live in Prague in a month and we hoped that we'll have no problems since it's Europe and people most probably speak English, especially young

oh well, i do speak Russian (my husband doesn't) but somehow it seemed to me impolite to talk Russian to Czech people. Maybe i'm wrong but i thought they wouldn't like it. Am i wrong?

Well, Czech people mostly speak German. Many young people speak English but they're mostly beginner or pre-intermediate level speakers. Older people speak fluent Russian or many of them German. I was quite nervous about speaking in Russian, as I heard that Czechs doesn't like to speak Russian because of the Soviet era but it was either this, or not communicate at all. But I think they didn't mind me speak Russian because it was not my mother tongue and I wasn't a fluent speaker anyway ( ... )

Thank you :) hopefully you're right. If we were just tourists i wouldn't even worry. It's just the matter of looking for an apartment, registering at the police, buying insurance and million other things that immigrants have to go through. Well, it can be fun too, on the other hand:)

I can only guess how much frustrating it can be. One of my friends has been living there for 14 months and can't wait to go back to Turkey because of the living style and some other difficulties, but I love Prague and I hope you can enjoy living there. It's one of my dreams. :D

Oh by the way, that friend of mine doesn't speack Czech. Only learned some necessary stuff while he's staying there, so it will be easy for you. The only thing you may face as a difficulty on language is, Czech language and Russian have some painful similarities that you may forget which one was correct in Czech.
