Why do you think that just because its a new year - that you must start over on everything? Sure there are things that you will definately start anew, but friends are not one of them. Our friendships are the one true constant in our lives - they do not always come easy - but when they do - hang on - hang on - relationships are work - so if you work at keeping your friends - there is no reason to think that your relationship should or will end. Have that dinner party sweet girl. Introduce them all to eachother - you will be pleasantly surprised just how many of them will indeed have things in common - other than just being your friend - and how much they just might learn from eachother. Just think how amazing you will feel inside at the end of the night - knowing that though you may always make new friends - that the ones you have right now broke bread together and because of this one night will always be bound in some way. You are THEIR constant thread.......
Liz, for the first time I also was part of a group of friends. It is a terrible feeling to think that you were just a side show for a group in the world of high school. However, I think you can agree that college opened up opportunities to everyone to make their own group because the preassumed notions that people had about others. For instance, this summer, a guy gets hired at my work. Upon seeing him I tell my a coworker that "that guy is a douche bag". So naturally, there came a time where I had to be in close contact, giving him and another guy a ride to work. Upon seeing me that was to be giving him a ride, he proceeds to say "that guy is a douche bag". The ultimate irony of it all is that we have never spoken to each other, never been in a class together, and have very few common friends. So, preconceived notions are out the door the moment you step back onto Ga State. Live it up and be happy with your group again. I know I will be with mine
