Day 4

Oct 19, 2009 13:23

After lighting starryshadows' house on fire, the villagers returned to their homes for the evening.

Having to walk just a little bit further than everyone else, chelleann77 took longer to reach her rented cottage, she being a tourist and visitor to Innsmouth. Unlocking her door, she stepped inside and was immediately struck from behind, something blunt and heavy hitting ( Read more... )

Huzzah!

... and apologies to Flowen. I think, in future games, I need to add more flavor text. At least if I'm a grumpy old professor, or a steampunk automaton, logic won't look suspicious on me, and I won't attract as much ire.

That said, I think the GM-suicide rule should be thrown out the bloody window. What would a GM do if a wolf was utterly silent by day and posted by night? Silence should be an acceptable strategy, and not a backdoor method to increase known villager to unknown villager ratios.

This is a game where participation is key. raisha simply voted and didn't participate in the discussion which is the equivalent of, when you're playing in-person, simply staying quiet during the discussion phase and only voting. Online, it's different.

Beyond that, if she had been a special and posted only at night, she wouldn't have been in danger of suicide...

In that same string, that would also put her in danger if folks put that 2 + 2 together (not posting during the day, yet strangely not in danger of "not playing" suicide).

*nod* There is that too.

However, simply voting and not participating would be the best way to screen that, especially with how much people go off of what a person says.

I had fun, though it took a definite turn towards the inevitable when there were more specials than villagers and only one cultist after day 2.

I would suggest either less specials or throw the lovers into the mix. Make it a losing point for them to randomly lynch people for the heck of it rather than a strategic one.

*nod* Good point on the Lovers. I initially ruled out including them because of how few people we had but I can see how they'd be used to keep what happened this game from happening.

I'm not sure what the right formula for mixing in wolves is. It does seem like this is the only 2 wolf game I've ever seen, which might be why it ended so soon.

But let's face it, getting one straight out of the gate is darn lucky.

It's not clear to me if 2 or 3 is the right number for 15 players.

I'm thinking that maybe a cultist for every five villagers with a minimum game of 10. Games over 15 and you can start putting in more specials.

I don't know, maybe I should message Joe and find out what his criteria is; he's had a decent mix the last two games.
