Well, if you're talking about Machiavelli, then Good or Virtue is the act of pursuing one's ambition-- especially if you are a leader. This means that no matter what you may do to accomplish your goals, it is good. What some may see as an evil act is just not so because you are on your way to accomplishing your goals. For the masses (or non-leaders), virtue is a moral issue-- good and evil have an ethical bearing that can't be clearly defined by an all-consuming ambition. This is why the people will never understand the drive, motives or actions of a leader-- because they in and of themselves aren't capable of pursuing ambition for ambition's sake
