First my washer decided to give out mid-load. That was annoying, reaching into elbow-deep water to pull out my sodden clothes, but nothing the dryer couldn't compensate for

A trick, for future reference, which you may already know.
Take the shirt that you need for the next day, which has been washed, rinsed and wrung out / spun. If necessary, re-spin through washer (if not in laundromat), or re-wring.
Take a large-ish towel. Lay it out on the floor, or table, depending on your degree of flexibility. Depending on degree of cleanliness of floor, lay another towel over that one. About 8 inches from the end of the top towel, lay the shirt out. Fold the end of the top towel over the bottom of the shirt, then fold -that- end up, creating a towel-shirt roll. If on floor, kneel on it to make sure moisture is extruded. If on table, press books down on the roll. A hard surface -is- necessary: beds don't work.
Unroll the package, put a hanger in the shirt, hang in bathroom. Likelihood of complete dryness by morning is about 85%, likelihood of sufficient dryness to only require a couple of minutes with a hairdryer, 95%.
Also useful for traveling and not wanting to spend money on hotel laundries.
Suddenly I realize how lucky I am to have a camp where they do industrial-strength laundry for us twice a week. Even if they do lose my socks and pants. I should go find those.
See, you should have come up here. Free laundry, and the uniform shirts aren't even required (except for Parent's Visiting Day). And now that it's sunny, Jillian, lost and found is on the fence by volleyball -- look there.
