driving towards the spine

of the American

island.

The Continental Divide a column of

spires

splitting the wind from a western sea.

A red-eye from Texas,

following an asphalt web,

Your poetry has always had a clarity, full of sharp edges and hard truths.

I know you think poetry is for little girls who dot the letter "i" with hearts, but, despite that, I hope you'll not stop writing your own brand of verse.

Thanks. I appreciate that, especially since I know you're not likely to bullshit me.

I guess I need to find a reason to do it, aside from class assignments. Maybe just to fuck with little girls who dot the letter "i" with hearts would be reason enough!
