Wow! Congratulations!!! This is incredibly awesome news!!!

I have to admit, I am amazed by anyone who can sit down and write a play, of any length. I've been struggling with the idea for a one-person show (tired of waiting for opportunity to knock) and feel that it would take at least ten years of solid study and constant writing to pull off anything even vaguely worthy of performance.

So, well done! I know you've worked hard for this.

Thank you, ma'am. It HAS been a lot of hard work, but to be honest, it's been so much fun getting here that I've hardly noticed. Being in theatre kinda kicks ass.

And you'd be surprised how easy it is to bang out a script. Just write what you've always wanted to see on stage. Odds are, no one else has done it yet.

Hey, I didn't realize your competition was so soon. That's my spring break, so I can be there. Do you know details about what date your piece will be performed? Want to get tickets. I imagine it will be a pretty intensive trip, but we'll go up and snatch you away for dinner or something one evening.

You are full of win.

Hold up, the regional festival won't be in DC, ya? It's the nationsls? That's why I had July in my head. Have I got this straight?

Heh, the regionals already took place in Amarillo back in February. The nationals are April. The July event you're thinking of is The Playwriting Intensive, which is also part of ACTF but not part of the competition. That had been arranged before winning the regional, and Texas State was sending me, but now that I'm a national finalist, it looks like the Kennedy Center is picking up the tab. It's all rather confusing. Lettie and her husband are coming to see the Ten Minute Festival, so it'll be cool if you guys can join us. Here's a link to buy tickets (April 22nd Ten Minute Festival).

Okay, that's MUCH clearer. How long will you be in town? I see on the website that the awards ceremony is the next day.

Going to pop over to the site and get some tickets.
