After having watched the Veronica Mars season 2 finale, I have thoughts about the music, paralleling a bit of Last of the Mohicans. Beware of spoiling yourself (for either).
At the end of the scene on the rooftop of the Neptune Grand, when Cassidy steps backward over the ledge, the music playing is a song by Gravenhurst called "see my friends". It was heart-wrenching. The song and the mood of this particular scene reminded me viscerally of another powerful suicide scene on film: the scene where Alice, the blond younger sister of Cora (main character) steps sideways off the cliff. The music playing during that scene is part of the Main Theme to Last of the Mohicans, but the textures and moods are so similar that I couldn't help but think perhaps it was purposeful. Either way, I felt that awful surge of heart pain during both, and it was just so beautiful.
