I was very impressed with her as a speaker. Looking into her record makes me cringe though.

Still researching to see how I am going to vote...

I'd even say the same about someone researching Obama... ignore the speaches, look at the record - that's where you'll find the eral person.

As good of an orator as he is, I want people to vote for my guy cuz they like what he's done and stands for, not cuz he turns a good phrase.

Cuz in the end, it isn't a speech that will fix anything in this country...

I disagree. Kennedy told us to reach for the Moon and to ask what we could do for our country. MLK had a dream that has inspired the world.

That being said, my mantra for this election is 'form over style'.

I am trying to decide whiether I want to vote for the party that is honest about wanting to bugger me with new taxes, or the party that is dishonest about buggering me with new taxes. Either way, my bum is sore afterwards. :-)

Speeches are inspiring, yes, but had the *work* started on going to the moon - money and time spent on NASA, or acheiving equal rights - legal battles and leglistation, would the speeches have counted at all?

point being, speeches are inspiring, but in and of themselves, they are pretty empty. To be effective, actions must follow words.

btw, speaking of taxes, have you seen this (side by side comparasion of McCain & Obama's tax proposals:

I like what she said. That being said of the 4 miserable criminals on the block I like her the best. She is the most real to me, of the four she spoke to me.

You know people who know him? *fangirl* All I've ever done is shake Newt's hand (it didn't fall off, fwiw, but at the time I was a good lil baby republican).

Question, when did Obama hit your radar? I first heard of him in 2004 but so rare for a non-Illinoisian (??) to have known who he was before 2004.

I WANT MY SOCIAL SECURITY ENSURED TO ME... but everyone running is willing to watch it flushed down the bowl. So they are all bastards to me.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm still willing to go out of my way to punch anyone who voted for Bush.
