I was reading in a friends journal about how all the negativity revolving around political posts was making her feel, confused and hurt. Not confused by the issues so much as the willingness of friends to take something that lives in shades of gray and preach it with such venom and conviction without regard to their friendships, and while I am ( Read more... )

To quote someone from several months ago ago in the days of the bitter primary: "If anyone doesn’t like open and honest political discussion, they are free to scroll on by or, put me in your own reading filter or, even de-friend me if you really hate it that much ( ... )

i posted this to phoenix_defiant but i thought you should see it too

debate, I love debate. what i read is bashing all one sided crap and its less then i want to deal with. I liken it to protestants knocking on my door wanting to tell me about God. they are not there to discuss the merits of comparative religion they are there to sell you their boy. much like political supporters

as far as major news outlets . . . . I have two words for you Fox News. Fox news is a major news outlet, do you think for one second that they are fair and unbiased? I don’t. why would i believe that ANY news outlet is going to be any different. If I want news I go to the BBC

FWIW, IMHO, people shouldn't take political stuff as a personal affront as long as people are being civil. I think friends with opposing views generally should try to just agree to disagree & not take each others rants so personally.

On the other hand, none of *has* to say who we are voting for.
Last night on his late night show, Craig Ferguson (new US citizen) implored people to vote, but he said perhaps we should be more private about our political choices. As for me, I like a good debate, and I'm pretty outspoken, but I don't want to offend anyone.
