His earth and stone holy jilted reality, his bony hands curving round her head and raising the cup to her lips, intimate breath and humming trance air...

There is no word for when something is entwined by something rocky. They all suggest organicness or curvyness - like 'entwined' or 'curving'! I shall submit my complaint to the Inquisitorial Language Council.

Also report the inadequate number of words for "goodness of cheese".

Also, there is clutch and clasp and grasp and synonyms of those things. Or something along the lines of trapped might work.

Unfortunately rainy all those words suggest intent and will, and most of them negatively... imagine the movement of a vine round a pole; ('entwining') now imagine in the same way the movement of an outcrop of rocks curving around a piece of grass. It is the latter feeling that I wanted to get, but there is no such word, because rocks do not move. (trapped is also very negative, but it's a natural process I'm thinking of; neutral and peaceful in character)..

'Hewn' is indeed a tiny bit nearer the mark, but still falls way short as it implies loads of things that should not be implied. Do not try to solve the problem my friends, there is simply no such word! It is a cool demonstration of language's constructed nature, its limitations, and the ability of the mind to concieve of atmospheres and concepts which language does not cover.

hmm.. I tend to float into analogy or association readily when using descriptive language. I'd either try to associative the given intended sense by something that had the tactile-cognitive association in my mind, or try to describe it by building an analogue, perhaps not necessarily with imagery, maybe just by blending language-elements ( ... )

What about the growth of a crystal lattice around something? Crystallisation. Imagine this in terms of water vapour crystallising around something, or coalescing.

More air than earth, I know, elementally speaking.

This word in turn leads me to thoughts of a chrysalis.

'encased' is a more earthy word, although it also implies 'surrounding' in a hemmed in way.
